Learning objectives
After completing the Online and Hands-on Workshop on vacuum extraction, participants
will be better able to:
- Recognise the indications and contraindications for vacuum delivery and to
classify the indications into lower and higher risk groups
- Evaluate key obstetric factors in order to select patients for whom vacuum
delivery is appropriate
- Understand and practise the procedural steps and technique for non-rotational
and rotational vacuum extraction
- Establish safety measure for vacuum extraction that may be instituted prior
to, during and following the procedure
